Based on ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) technology, SMDERI developed ORC Power Unit which maximally converts the low grade heat in temperature of 80-250 ℃ to electrical energy without extra fuel consumption.
Working Principle:
◇ The low boiling point organic working fluid absorbs the heat inside the evaporate system, then is evaporated to high temperature & high pressure steam.
◇ The high temperature & high pressure steam flows into the turbine expander and make it work, then the temperature & pressure of the steam is lowered down after work.
◇ The working turbine expander drives the generator to create electricity.
◇ The steam with low temperature & pressure after works on the turbine expander flows into the cooling system to be condensed to fluid.
◇ The working fluid is pressured by the fluid pump and flows into the evaporate system for next cycle.
Applications:
Hot Water Sourced ORC Power Unit:
This type of ORC power unit utilizes the hot water in temperature of 90-150 ℃ to generate electricity. The power efficiency depends on the temperature of hot water, temperature drop between inlet and outlet, temperature of circulation water, air temperature, etc. In general, the electricity generated could reach up to
1.5 - 8.0 kwh per metric ton of hot water.
